Mint: any unowned word can be claimed — enter any amount, $5 minimum (paid in USDC/USDT). What you pay becomes the word's price.
Takeover: anyone can buy an owned word by paying at least the current price +10% or +$5, whichever is greater (you can pay more — what you pay becomes the new price). Example: a $5 word takes over at $10, a $20 word at $25, a $100 word at $110.
Buy now (owner's ask): an owner can set a lower "Buy now" price. It always guarantees the owner at least principal +5%.
Make an offer: anyone can offer ANY amount ≥ $5 on an owned word — even below the takeover price. The offer is paid upfront on-chain and held; the owner can accept it at any time. Offers can be cancelled by the offerer (refund processed within 24h).
👑 Original Minter royalty (since v2.2.0): the FIRST person who ever minted a word earns 1% of every future sale of that word — always, forever, no matter how many times it changes hands. Royalties are credited to the minter's site balance (withdrawable anytime). Royalties accrue from v2.2.0 onward — no retroactive payouts for earlier sales.
House minimum: on every sale the house is guaranteed at least 4% of the sale price (normally it takes 50% of the price increase, minus the 1% minter royalty). If a word sells at a loss or with a tiny margin, these fees come out of the seller's proceeds — selling low is the seller's choice. Example: bought at $1,000, ask-sold at $500 → minter $5, house $20, seller $475.
You profit — instantly, on-chain: when your word is taken over through the contract, the buyer's transaction itself pays you your principal + 50% of the price increase, straight to your payout address. (Buy-nows and accepted offers via the site's escrow flow credit your on-site balance instead.)
Ownership: the owner can set a display name, an optional logo, one sentence (max 140 chars), and one link — all optional. Takeover resets these to the new owner's values. History is kept forever.
Sign in with your wallet: your paying wallet is your identity. Sign in on the My Words page to manage your words — accept offers, set a Buy-now price, and edit your word's details.
Owner token (legacy backup): some purchases also issue a secret owner token (shown once). It still works as a backup key, but wallet sign-in is the primary way to manage your words.
One word: a single word — letters and numbers only, case-insensitive, max 30 characters.
⛓️ The contract is carved in stone
Word trading now runs through OnewordRegistry — an immutable smart contract: no upgrades, no admin over funds, no pause switch, no parameter changes. Ever. Go verify the source on-chain:
What's carved in: $5 minimum mint (100% to the site treasury), 110% minimum takeover, and on every takeover the previous owner is paid their principal + 50% of the delta — atomically, in the same transaction, straight to their payout address. The rest goes to the treasury.
Example: you bought "rocket" for $100. Someone takes it over for $150 (delta $50). In that same transaction the contract sends you $125 ($100 principal + $25 = 50% of the delta) and $25 to the treasury. No waiting, no trust, no house in the middle.
Every owner has a payout address, set when you buy (defaults to your paying wallet) and changeable later only by you (from the owning wallet, via setPayoutAddress).

🏆 Weekly rewards (20 / 10 / 70)
Reward weeks run Thursday 12:00 PM New York time → next Thursday 12:00 PM.
Each week we track the site's total house revenue (mints + house spreads on takeovers, buy-nows, and accepted offers).
At the Thursday cutoff:
20% of that week's revenue goes to the owner (at cutoff) of the most expensive word on the board.
10% more goes to all word owners: half of it split equally between every owner, half by unique weekly views (audited).
The site keeps 70%.
Example: the site earns $1,000 this week. The owner of the most expensive word gets $200. Another $100 goes to owners: $50 split equally between all owners, and $50 split by audited unique views — if your word got 300 of the week's 1,000 unique views, that part pays you $15. The site keeps $700.
Anti-fraud: views are audited before payouts. Only unique daily views count toward rewards (the public live counter is separate and counts every visit), no single word can take more than 25% of the views pool, and fraudulent traffic is excluded. Words engaged in view fraud forfeit rewards.
Weekly rewards are computed off-chain (views are off-chain data) and paid from the site's treasury share.
Credits: rewards are credited to your site balance (see the Balance page — labeled "Weekly reward"). Claim anytime — balances untouched for 12 months expire.
Payments (phase 1)
Payments are crypto only for now: USDC or USDT on Ethereum mainnet. Pay with your wallet in one click, or transfer manually and submit the transaction hash — verified on-chain automatically, ownership transfers instantly.
Card payments: coming soon.
Claims (withdrawals) of your balance are paid out in USDC, processed within 24 hours. Small balances are best accumulated before claiming.
Balances untouched for over 12 months expire to the site treasury — any new credit or claim resets the clock.
Offer refunds (cancelled offers) are processed manually within 24 hours to the offerer's payout address.
Send only the selected token on the network you selected. Wrong tokens or wrong networks may be unrecoverable.
🏦 Market making
OneWord operates a market-making and trading desk. House-operated wallets may mint, buy, sell, and hold words to provide liquidity and seed the market.
These wallets trade under the same rules as everyone else — same minimums, same fees, same takeover math — and they never trade with each other.
Content policy
Rude words? Allowed. People's names? Allowed.
Not allowed: illegal content, incitement to violence, doxxing or publishing private personal info, links to malware/phishing or illegal content.
We reserve the right to remove any word, profile, or link we consider abusive or harmful — without a refund.
